Meet the Mayor

It isn't often you meet the Mayor so when I got an appointment with her I was a bit nervous, to say the least!! We've been working on the business for many months now and word is really starting to get out. Thanks to a connection from Ryan Gregory I got an appointment with the her. I shared our plans, some exhibits and our vision and she was genuinely interested in seeing something like this happen for the kids of Napa. Again I was pleasantly surprised by not only the words of encouragement but by her concern for Napa kids and providing opportunities for them. Meetings like this give me a whole different outlook.

A quick and valuable lesson I've learned. I don't know everything. If I did my head might explode! Since I don't it's important to seek advice and then to follow it!! The SBDC is great but sometimes you need someone you know and trust. In my case it's Mechele Small Haggard. Advice from Mechele seems to be the best kind. This woman is a mom in my mom's group who is a business consultant. Without her I don't know what I would do. It's rare to meet someone who is so down to Earth and intelligent. Her advice really helped keep me focused early on. She's practically a saint as far as I'm concerned.
We met about creating a survey to ask parents in Napa what they are looking for in a business like ours. I worked on the questions and then she phrased them in funny humorous ways and really brought our personalities out in the survey a bit. In addition it helped us to show Napa parents what we would like to offer their children.
