Summer Fun Fest

6/21/2008

The Napa 20/30 Club invited us to participate in their first annual Summer Fun Fest. It was held at Kennedy Park. This was our first daytime outing where we really had a chance to spread out and bring lots of exhibits.

It was a very windy day which I think hurt the overall attendance. Those that did come had a great time. The Builder Boards, PVC builder, bubbles, Solar Exhibit, Spinning Tops and Windmill table all saw a lot of action.

Also in attendance were our friends from PB&J's, Rockzilla and Eco-Lunch. We had an amazing lunch from Eco-Lunch!

Oxbow Public Market

6/17/2008

Tonight was our first Oxbow market. Tuesday night is Locals Night and we were invited to come hang out at their farm stands outside to make it more family friendly. We brought a variety of exhibits and a make & take craft and had a great time. The Sniff-O-Rama made it's debut and was well received. It was fun for people to try to guess the scent they were smelling. Also popular was the Flying Dixie exhibit. Kids cut-up Dixie cups and try to see how long they can keep them aloft. We quickly discovered this isn't a great outdoor exhibit as the wind interfered with the flying all night. Our windmill table did much better with the wind! At this exhibit kids use K'Nex parts to create their own windmills.

We enjoyed a great dinner from Rotisario, which is now one of our favorite local places for take-out. Their tri-tip sandwich is incredible!

Thank you to Kari for thinking of us and inviting us to come to Oxbow. We can't wait to come again!

Chef's Market #3

6/5/2008

Another Thursday night Chef's Market. This week was special for us as we had Jonathan's parents visiting us. Jonathan's mom happily helped the little crafters with a special spin art project. This week's theme was magnets and we had two magnet exhibits and one magnet activity. Our magnet table which was greeted with squeals of delight and our magnetic gear wall attracted tons of toddlers. Here's a nice sculpture someone made with the washers and nuts.
